3. Will CrimeLink™ work with Windows 7
CrimeLink™ Version 4.4.1.3 and above supports Windows 7®. If you have Windows7®, please ensure you download the latest version.

4. Where can I find an upgrade to my existing version?
Please check our website periodically for news and new releases. If you are running CrimeLink™ on a machine with internet access, the software will notify you as updates become available. Registered users are entitled to free software upgrades so long as you have an active maintenance contract. The latest version of CrimeLink™ can be downloaded here.

5. How do I activate CrimeLink™ after I initially install it?
After installing CrimeLink™ for the first time, whether a purchased or evaluation version, the software must be activated to begin using it. If you have internet connectivity from the machine that CrimeLink™ is installed on, activation can be done online by simply entering the Activation/Evaluation ID that was emailed to you into the Software Activation dialog. If you do not have internet connectivity, simply follow the instructions in the Software Activation dialog and email us your Activation/Evaluation ID and your Reporting Code. We will, in turn, send you a License Code that you will enter into the Software Activation dialog to activate your software.

6. What are the minimum requirements to run CrimeLink™ ?
The minimum system requirements (for Version 5) are as follows:

  • Windows 7, Windows 2008 Server®, Windows Vista® SP1, Windows 2003 Server® SP1 or Windows XP Professional® SP3
  • 2 GHz or faster processor
  • 1 GB Memory (2 GB recommended)
  • 1 GB of available hard drive space (space required will vary with information entered)
  • 1,024x768 display (higher recommended) with 16-bit video card
  • Mouse, DVD-ROM (if media was purchased), Available USB port (if dongle was purchased), Network Card


7. When is the next version coming out?
Please check our website periodically for news and new releases. On average, PCI releases incremental versions (bug fixes and minor enhancements) about once every one to two months. Major versions are release on average once every couple of years.

9. What is your upgrade policy?
When you purchase CrimeLink™ Version 5, you are entitled to all incremental version upgrades, free of charge, as long as you have current maintenance contract. If you chose not to purchases a maintenance contract, upgrades are still available for a period of 30 days from the date of purchase.

10. Will CrimeLink™ work with Windows Vista
CrimeLink™ Version 4.4.0.0 and above supports Windows Vista®. If you have Windows Vista®, please ensure you download the latest version.

11. How do I configure CrimeLink to use a central database?
To configure multiple copies of CrimeLink to utilize a central database and take full advantage its ability to correlate entities, identify common elements between cases, and to merge cases, please download and follow the instructions in the following document: Configuring CrimeLink to Use a Central Database.pdf
